Good Afternoon All,
We are currently reviewing the hand hygiene practices throughout our CSSD and Endoscopy Decontamination area and are wondering if any sites have an audit tool for these areas. As these areas do not have contact with patients the 5 moments for hand hygiene don’t outline the requirements for these particular areas.
Do other sites also expect that this demographic would complete the 5 moments for hand hygiene online learning and if so which professional group do they fit into?

Hi Erica,
Yes I would encourage all staff to complete the hand hygiene online learning package. For this group I would get them to do the non-clinical package. This covers the 5 moments but also other times to perform hand hygiene and when to wear gloves, and barriers to good hand hygiene such as artificial nails and jewellery and taking care of your skin (hands).
