    Dear Vascular Access Professionals,

Some time ago you would have possibly received an email from Evan and
myself outlining the formation of a professional society for Vascular
Access clinicians within Australia. Our proposed mission was to advocate
excellence in clinical practice through education, research and device
management. The aim of the Society is to bring together individuals and
organisations who have expertise in vascular access to collaboratively
develop guidelines that can be incorporated into our clinical
institutions nationally to promote best care practices and optimal
vascular access outcomes for our patients.

It is to also have a national network where latest product releases
along with research and development (both nationally and
internationally) can be disseminated to clinicians so that we can make
informed decisions for the clinical care of our patients involving their
    vascular access devices.

This Society has already begun developing relationships with many of the
    other well-established international societies below;

World Congress for Vascular Access (www.WoCoVA.com)

    Association of Vascular Access (www.avainfo.org)

    Intravenous Nurses New Zealand (www.ivnnz.co.nz/)

    European Vascular Access Network (www.evanetwork.info/)

    Canadian Vascular Access Association (www.cvaa.info/)

National Infusion and Vascular Access Society (www.nivas.org.uk)

Through these other professional organisations we can develop strong
networking relationships with future opportunities to collaborate and
strengthen clinical practice and increase the pool of quality
international research within the realm of vascular access.

Many of you expressed interest in becoming a member of the Society or
being involved in the establishment process in some way.

The Australian Vascular Access Society (or AVAS as it will be called in
short) will be estabishing a temporary Executive, along with a number of
sub-committees, including medical and corporate industry committees.
This will begin the process of formalising a multidisciplinary
professional organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in vascular
access care, research and education throughout Australia.

There is much work to be done in establishing such an organisation, and
many professionals from both medical, nursing, industry and other
specialties have been keen to see the development of such a Society for
    some time now.

I am writing to inform you that you will no doubt receive further emails
from this address (temporary AVAS email account) keeping you informed of
    the processes as they develop.

I look forward to help the planning of an organisation that will help
make better clinical outcomes in for ALL who work in, with or receive
    vascular access.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact either of us via this
    email address.

    Sincerely,

    Tim Spencer

    AVAS Executive

    02 / 8738 3603
