[Posted on behalf of ACIPC President – Moderator]

    Dear Colleague
This message is to advise you of changes to access to Infexion Connexion. Effective from Monday 27 August 2018 access to Infexion Connexion will be available to members of ACIPC only. To allow the changes to occur Infexion Connexion will be closed from Monday 27 August 2018 and will reopen on Tuesday 11 September 2018. Access to Infexion Connexion from 11 September 2018 will be via the email address you use for College communication.
In recent times, there have been a range of formal complaints and expressions of concern to the College Office and individual Board Directors from members, non-member peers within other societies, and others within the wider community about recent commentary within Infexion Connexion. Infexion Connexion is owned, paid for, and operated by ACIPC.
Additionally, members have expressed concern that information posted is not always accurate and can be confusing to novice practitioners where advice is conflicting or lacking in evidence. Also of concern to the ACIPC Board has been reports that members have used language that could be perceived as intimidating to the Moderator about postings on Infexion Connexion.
Each year, the ACIPC Board of Directors undertakes a review of the College functions and resources and in 2018 the Board transitioned the Policy Committee into the Practice Guidance Committee. It is expected in due course that the Practice Guidance Committee will better provide members with up to date relevant information and resources.
Currently, the Infexion Connexion is open to all who express an interest in infection prevention and control at no cost to the individual. However, given the above, the ACIPC Board has determined that membership of Infexion Connexion be unique to ACIPC members as a members-only community.
To ensure the best possible experience for all members, the College has established some basic guidelines for participation. By joining and using this community, members agree to follow these guidelines and to reserve discussions and shared files and content to those that are best suited to the medium of a list serve.
Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, the College reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community when these guidelines are not adhered to.
If you have questions or comments please contact the ACIPC Office. The Moderator of Infexion Connexion will not respond to comments or questions regarding the changes.
Access to Infexion Connexion from 11 September 2018 will be via the email address you use for College communication.
Current subscribers who are not members are invited to join the College to enable ongoing access to the list, please contact Sara at officemanager@acipc.org.au
    Sincerely,

    Marilyn
