I hope this email finds you well. As you may be aware, the 69th World
Health Assembly will be held in Geneva on 23-28 May 2016.Our department supports a Side Event of the World Health Assembly (WHA),
sponsored by Australia, Egypt, Ghana, Jamaica, Sierra Leone, Thailand and
The Netherlands on The Critical Role of Infection Prevention and Control
in Strengthening Health Systems and Achieving Quality Universal Health
Coverage (flyer and agenda attached).The event will be held on 25 May,
12:30-14:00h in Salle XXIV at the Palais des Nations, Geneva.This highly important event will feature presentations by country leaders
and experts.The objectives of the event are as follows:
Demonstrate the importance and value of strong political
leadership in advocating for greater focus on improving Infection
Prevention and Control (IPC);Highlight successful examples of changes to IPC practice and
behaviour that have successfully reduced harm to patients;Understand the interconnectedness of IPC, Universal Health
Coverage (UHC) and safe, high quality health care;Share effective Member States strategies to achieve and
sustain strengthened IPC programs and practices; andExplore opportunities for effective partnerships to
accelerate progress in improving IPC at the national, regional and global
levels.On the same days e will also host a reception at 7 pm at the Delegates
Restaurant to celebrate 10 years (20115-2015) of Clean Care is Safer Care
programmeI know that most of you will not be part of country delegation to WHA.
However, I would like to let you know about these two events and encourage
you to join us if you are at WHA, and let your country delegation and
anyone you feel may be interested, know.Many thanks in advance
