    Dear all,

For those working in Infection Prevention and Control in VICTORIAN Aged Care
    Facilities.

Yesterday the Victorian Department of Health (VDH) released information to
assist residential aged care facilities (RACFs) on public health actions if
a positive case attended the RACF (or the case
    is a resident) or if
a Primary Close Contact attended the RACF.

The guidance includes a number of immediate actions – see attached.

Of NOTE is the information in relation to furlough of staff:

1.A POSITIVE CASE ATTENDED THE FACILITY OR THE POSITIVE CASE IS A
    RESIDENT

*Compile a list of Primary Close Contacts of the case (i.e.
    staff/residents/visitors)

*As soon as it is safe to do so for residential care furlough any
unvaccinated or single dose vaccinated staff from this list and symptomatic
staff from this list and from site immediately

2.A PRIMARY CLOSE CONTACT (staff, resident, visitor) OF A CONFIRMED
CASE OF COVID-19 DURING THEIR INFECTIOUS PERIOD, HAS ATTENDED THE FACILITY

*Compile a contact list of any staff/residents/visitors that have
come into close contact with the Primary Close Contact

*Those on the list will be designated as Secondary Close Contacts

    * Staff that are identified as a secondary close contacts must be
    sent home to quarantine

    * Staff are able to return once the Primary Close Contact has a
negative test, providing there has been no ongoing contact with the Primary
Close Contact since the time of testing

    * Residents that are identified as a Secondary Close Contacts are
required to quarantine (in a single room with ensuite) until the Primary
Close Contact has a negative test, providing there has been no ongoing
contact with the Primary Close Contact since the time of testing.

    regards
