    Dear nursing and midwifery stakeholders

Please find below information on the Nanny Pilot Programme, as well as an attached press release about recently announced Ministry of Government changes.

    ________________________________

Applications are now open for the Nanny Pilot Programme. I would be grateful if you could please disseminate this information to your members.

Families struggling to access child care and who require more flexible arrangements can now apply to participate in the Australian Governments new Nanny Pilot Programme.

The two-year pilot will begin in 2016 and provide fee assistance to help eligible families with the cost of using a nanny in the family home. This is a great opportunity for parents, particularly those who live away from existing child care, or who work non-standard hourslike nurses and midwives.

Families are eligible if they earn less than $250,000, both parents (or in the case of a sole parent family, the sole parent) work, train or study at least eight hours a fortnight, and at least one parent is an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

As the Nanny Pilot Programme progresses over the next two years, the feedback of participating service providers, nannies and families will help the Government develop future policy for care provided in the family home.

The $246 million Nanny Pilot Programme will support about 10,000 children across the country.

Families have until 5pm AEDT on 30 October 2015 to apply. Information on how to apply, including the programme guidelines and frequently asked questions, is available at: http://www.dss.gov.au/nannypilot.

If families have any questions, they can email NannyPilot@dss.gov.au or call 1800 249 873.
