ACIPC Infexion Connexion AdministratorDear ACIPC Members,
We have known about Legionella in potable water systems for decades, however Australia is lagging behind the world in responses to combating and preventing Legionella outbreaks in health care facilities. Hospital managers, infection control specialists, facility managers and medical administrators can no longer ignore the potential infection risks posed by potable water systems.
The Wesley Hospital has embarked on a major journey to improve its management of infection control risks arising from the potable water system since an outbreak two years. Governance systems, testing regimes, policy and procedures and water management processes have all been changed due to a comprehensive review by international Legionella experts.
I would like to invite you to a one day conference on 14 November 2015 to learn about the latest in potable water management in the acute healthcare systems from leading international experts. The keynote address will be presented by Dr Susanne Lee, a renowned Legionella expert from the United Kingdom. Dr Lee has advised, investigated and reviewed numerous Legionella outbreaks as well as editing or providing technical input into numerous UK standards and guidelines.
Attached is a date claimer with more information on this event. Registration details to follow. Please feel free to forward this email to any of your colleagues who may be interested in attending.
Kind regards,
Kathy
