Hello and happy new year to all!!
Just wondering if anyone or any sites were participating in this global survey (as per below) & and if so what have they found useful or not.
One of our scientist here was interested but it seems a bit resource intensive and wondered if anyone else was involved and what they thought or if anyone was using something more useful that they were happy to shareMany thanks in advance for any feedback
Kind regards
Lindy

Global Point Prevalence Survey of antibiotic use and resistance rates in hospitals: new edition in 2017
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the major global public health challenges of the 21st century.
bioMrieux has been actively driving the fight against antimicrobial resistance and promoting the better use of antibiotics for many years through education and awareness initiatives.

In 2015, the Global Point Prevalence Survey (Global-PPS) of Hospital Antibiotic Use and Resistance was successfully performed in 53 countries, 335 hospitals and more than 100,000 hospitalized patients, using a standardized and validated method. Data from this first global initiative confirms the strong correlation between antibiotic use and bacterial resistance rates, and highlights the significant medical value of in vitro diagnostics and the need for improved antimicrobial prescribing practices in all countries.
Visit the Global-PPS website to see the survey protocol and the published results from the 2015 Global-PPS, presented at several international congresses.
I WANT TO LEARN MORE ON GLOBAL-PPS
Following the success of the first edition of the Global-PPS and thanks to bioMrieuxs renewed sponsorship, the survey will be repeated in 2017.
The Global-PPS provides a unique snapshot of the global burden of antibiotic consumption and resistance. It is supervised by a European Task Force of leading experts and coordinated by the University of Antwerp. All hospitals are invited to take part in this survey, so if you are interested in joining us, there is still time!
