Hi everyone,
We are currently looking at venticulitis rates with EVD use in our ICU at Royal North Shore. As part of our review, we also want to benchmark our practices against other units.
I am specifically after the following info:
– Does your unit use antibiotic coated EVDs or a combination of types of EVDs?
– How often are CSF samples taken and does this change once ventriculitis is present?
– How are the EVDs secured? (sutures / Staples)
– What type of dressings are used for the insertion site?
Of course if anyone is willing to share their unit protocol with us that would be fantastic!
Cheers,
Larissa Sirotti
