    Dear All,

Great to see this CDC & APIC initiative – checklists that can be used in
“real-time” by infection control and frontline stakeholders – see below

    . Free

    . Ready-to-use,

. A quick check at the local level

. Quick assessment forms or “cards”

    . 3-8 questions ONLY

. Deficiencies can be identified, investigated, and remediated in a
    timely manner

. Each observation is based on specific guideline recommendations or
general consensus as published in the literature.

The secret is keeping the checklist to a very short list – I usually limit
my check lists to 6-8 yes/no questions

Much better idea than some of the lengthy, time consuming audits that are
not being feedback in real-time that are being generated for accreditation
purposes in Australia at the moment.

If you are interested in checklists and their use in healthcare Atul Gawan,
a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, has written a book
called “The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right” which is a good
    place to start.

    Regards

    Glenys
