Subject: Re: [ACIPC_Infexion_Connexion] rest time for OT following dirty cases/ MRO casesDear Group,
I am not an infection Control professional, just an old periop nurse with an infection control interest, so please disregard this email if it is of no help. In the latest ACORN Standards 15th edition from pages 210 onwards there is a section of tables with Additional Resources which may help. I try very hard to have patients with known MROs placed on the end of the list and inform Recovery so they can be nursed one on one with at least a bay or more space to the next patient. If the patient is in the middle of the list resting in between in any timeframe to allow a number of air changes is all you can do. Also may I suggest ( you have probably thought of this anyway) removing as much non needed equipment prior to the case. Of course over night resting is best, but I do know of some operating theatres in day surgeries where the aircon is turned off overnight. Oh for a perfect hospital!
thanks for the ramble, Nicky

Dear Brains Trust,
I am sure I have asked this question before?? Regarding resting theatre following a dirty/MRO case.
We are currently debating this issue again, does anyone rest the theatre after the clean has taken place and for how long? Where possible the cases are last on the list, but we appreciate that not all MRO cases/dirty cases can go last on the list.
Advise on this matter would be greatly received.
Many thanks in advance
