External Window Coverings

Dear Members
Here in Hobart we are in the final design stages of our Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment, a 10 storey in-patient facility including medical, surgical, paediatric & mental health. In key areas interstitial blinds will be utilised for external window furnishings i.e. theatres, CSSD and Mental Health, unfortunately however due to costs these blinds will not be included in all in-patient areas.
The alternative put up by the Architects is a double roller blind with blackout and scrim. I am looking for advice/comments from colleagues who may have recently experienced refurbishment or newly constructed health facilities and who have shared the dilemma of what to put up to external windows within clinical areas to ensure ease of cleaning and which comply with current infection prevention standards.
