Emergency Service Providers and Blood Borne Viruses: a new ASHM resource
    (http://ashm.org.au/News.asp?NewsID501)

Focusing on the principles of transmission, prevention and management of BBVs, this is the latest in ASHM’s profession based booklet series. A free e-learning module accompanies the booklet.
ASHM’s newest resources provide specific information about blood borne viruses (BBVs) in the context of emergency service work.
The Emergency Service Providers and Blood-Borne Viruses booklet and e-learning module are designed for nationwide application and focus on the principles of BBV transmission, prevention and management.
These new resources have been developed to meet the specific needs of emergency service providers, such as members of the fire service, State Emergency Service (SES), paramedics and first aid providers, who can be exposed to a person’s blood or bodily fluids in the course of their work. Essential topics are covered, including:

Prevention, infection control and standard precautions in an emergency setting
    Potential BBV exposure management
    Rights and obligations.
