Dear colleagues,
I have started in new role as Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) Program Officer at Austin Health. This is a brand new position, and in conjunction with the new RMD manager, we aim to coordinate all activities involving RMD across our whole health service to improve patient safety. As a result I am seeking knowledge on a couple of topics so as to not try and reinvent the wheel!Does anyone have a similar type of position(s) at their health service? If yes, would you be able to get I touch and share your learnings?
Has anyone created an online learning module specifically to instil basic knowledge of RMDs for all staff? If yes, are you able to share your content or an overview of topics covered if not the whole content?
Has anyone created an online learning module specifically to address ultrasound reprocessing following the ASUM guidelines?
Has anyone recently installed a tracking system for RMD for the whole health service but specifically with a ward based focus? Are you able to get in touch off line and share the company details and reasons you chose the system you did?
Thanks in anticipation of being inundated with amazing work going on by our IC community 🙂
Kind regards
Kate Ryan

Hi Kate,
Below is a link to the Ultrasound Infection Prevention Toolkit…
It can be used in developing local policies and procedures to conform to the relevant infection control standards such as ANZ 4187https://www.ultrasoundinfectionprevention.org.au
The most important thing for assessing HLD technology for ultrasound reprocessing is checking the sign-off from the actual probe manufacturers.
Kind regards,

Hi, not sure if this is the same however I am currently in a temporary position looking at my organisations compliance to AS/ANZ 4187. I have been in the role now for just over 12 months and will be continuing until at least July 2020.
I am happy to share any learnings, of which every day is sometimes a challenge!
I have also been tasked to develop a role description of someone who has oversight of reprocessing activities for the organisation. If anyone has a copy of a similar role description they would be willing to share, it would really help.
Happy to talk further if you wanted to give me a call.
Kind regards
