Dear ALL,
I would like to know the prevailing disinfection of bronchoscopes practices in AUS, whether all used bronchoscopes are disinfected by AER, or you would use manual disinfection methods for example using Cidex OPA.
Yours sincerely,

Hi Sony,
In my experience most bronchoscopes are either processed in a low temperature sterilisation process and stored packaged until use to maintain sterility or are processed in an Automated Endoscope Reprocessor immediately prior to use – or are reprocessed every 72 hours for high level disinfected bronchoscopes kept ready for emergency procedures.
It is very unusual [in my experience] for gastrointestinal endoscopes and bronchoscopes to be high level disinfected manually [soaked in a chemical disinfectant solution] in Australia.
Kind Regards
