Hi everyone
I was just wondering if anyone has been involved in establishing a dedicated COVID-19 ward in their facilities. In regards to PPE- are staff donning it before entering and remaining in and for how long?( unless contaminated ). Only glove changes between patients or full PPE? And any other helpful advice
Thanks in advanceLisa Driver

Hi Lisa
Apologies I meant to get back to you
What we are doing at JHC
We have divided the corridor into clean and dirty with red tape down the middle of the corridor so staff are either deemed clean or dirty.
Dirty staff don PPE and can go into multiple single rooms changing gloves only between patients. They are changing out of their PPE hourly and rotating between clean and dirty. The clean nurse is the runner basically and is scribing in the notes. Nots are on the clean side.We are getting all deliveries catering/pharmacy /linen etc to the outside foyer of the ward and nursing staff are bringing it in to the unit.
Meal trolley kept on clean side and dirty nurse handing to clean or putting straight in trolley. All food scraps removed on ward we have gone to disposable cutlery so disposed of as well. Only the trays and meal trolley go back to kitchen
Any thing else ask away. Everyone is developing flow charts and I can send you those as well
Tara
Kind Regards
