Dear All,
We would like to have your comment for the captioned scenario, to sterilize or high-level disinfect the used of kits between each use by the same mother is not practical nor necessary. And to provide a new, sterile kit to each mother for every use is cost prohibitive.
Your advise will be a tremendous help.
Yours sincerely,

Correct me if I see it otherwise. This is simple Spaulding non critical item. Decontamination is suffice. It is of equal importance to require the manufacturer of instructions for reprocessing and establish functionality of the device when exposed to the rights of detailed decontamination. If it can withstand thermal disinfection (anaesthetic cycle) would advise to do that. It is important to preserve the integrity of the processed item as exposure to a historical microbial medium is at play.
I understand the limitations of operational budgetary constraints, but I would endeavour to at least HLD. I hope this helps.I did work at a place that sterilise them at 121C.

Hi Sony,
Breastfeeding mothers in our maternity unit use a single patient use breast pump kit that is washed between each use with detergent and warm water, and are left to air dry in the patients’ room. These kits attach to the electric breast pumps.
They usually can get 6 uses from this kit before the suction is no longer adequate.
If they stay longer than the 24 hours (or 6 uses), they are provided with another breast pump kit.
As postnatal patients have a much shorter hospital stay, when they go home they usually purchase or hire a pump if continued expression is required, especially if they have a baby in the special care nursery.Janine
