    Dear ACIPC members,

Did you know that by undertaking the ACIPC Credentialling process you are also meeting the requirements for registration under AHPRA? All nurses upon request are required to provide evidence of professional development and reflective practice.

Continuing professional development is the means by which members of the profession maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities required throughout their professional lives. The CPD cycle involves reviewing practice, identifying learning needs, planning and participating in relevant learning activities, and reflecting on the value of those activities (ANMC 2009).

Credentialling is an important part of professional development for the Infection Control Professional (ICP) and is a self-regulatory process instituted by ACIPC to determine and acknowledge that an individual has demonstrated a prescribed level of competence in Infection Control. It is one of the many hallmarks of an established profession.

For a limited time the ACIPC EC will be waiving the $100 application fee to encourage new applications from the membership whom meet the criteria to undertake the process. Traditionally the December/January period lends itself to some’ downtime’ in Infection Control programs. If you have been thinking about credentialling but have not quite got around to it, why not work on your application during this period and submit before February 28th to take advantage of this special offer.

By becoming credentialled you will also be eligible as an endorsed member of the College to be placed on the ACIPC Expert database which is used to identify experts with specific skill sets to provide assistance, feedback and representation by the College to a number of external bodies.

For more information about the process please contact Ramon Shaban, Chair Credntailling Committee on R.Shaban@griffith.edu.au

To get started contact Lorelei Broadbent at admin@acipc.org.au for a copy of the credentialling package.

The ACIPC Credentialling Committee looks forward to receiving and reviewing your application and acknowledging and celebrating your achievements with you as a body of your peers.

    Regards,
    Claire Boardman
