Hi all ,
Our ED has used a 2 in 1 detergent/ sodium hypochlorite clean in our high turnover ED ‘COVID/suspected Covid’ patient testing zone for the last 8-9 months. The most notable negative impact to equipment is the premature degradation of mattress surface coating( looks like they are melting!). We are replacing them, and now in a lower Covid setting would like to review the use of sodium hypochlorite -& consider changing products in the ‘red’ zone.
How are other EDs exit cleaning their equipment (particularly mattresses)in high risk high turnover COVID zones?
…..suspect issues contributing to the ‘melting’ of the surfaces are bleach not being washed off, or washed off but mattresses flipped over for use while still wet…… they are literally glued to the beds …
Interested to find out what’s being done ‘elsewhere’
