Call for Abstracts
15thNational Immunisation Conference
7-9 June 2016, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition CentreWe invite abstract submissions for the oral and poster presentations at the 15th National Immunisation Conference, convened by the Public Health Association of Australia, to be held in Brisbane from June 7 to 9th 2016.
The conference theme of Immunisation: the jigsaw fitting the pieces two decades on celebrates 20 years since the 7 Point Plan was announced as a comprehensive package of measures under the headline banner of Immunise Australia and the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) commenced operation.
As Dr Robert Hall, convener of the 4th National Immunisation Conference in 1995, said in his welcoming note its an exciting time to be working in immunisation, a comment which still resonates today! The 1995 conference portrayed immunisation as a jigsaw, asking how the pieces of the puzzle could best be put together to protect Australians against serious diseases. Twenty years on, we have many more pieces but also great progress on their assembly.
In 2016 and beyond, we need the pieces of the jigsaw to fit together effectively and efficiently more than ever, as new vaccines arrive and communication experiences digital disruption. PHAA conferences have been calling for a whole of life immunisation register for over a decade, and in this 20th year of the ACIR, the Adult Immunisation Register (AIR) is set to emerge, spurred on by inclusion of zoster vaccine for elderly adults in the National Immunisation Program.
In this conference we will be having broad discussion about a wide range of current and future aspects of immunisation in Australia and the region and will also be benchmarking ourselves against another pace-setter in immunisation, the United Kingdom. We warmly encourage you to lock the date in your diaries to join us in Brisbane at the 15th National Immunisation Conference.Want more information or to submit an abstract?
