    Hi there,

Please can someone tell me if there are any Australian national
infection prevention and control surveillance definitions for healthcare
associated blood stream infections? I am aware of the ACSQHC CLABSI and
SAB surveillance guides but I was wondering if there are any national
ones for all HABSI used in Australia. The only ones I can find are the
AICA ones from a number of years ago.

I am interested in this because in our New Zealand facility we
previously used these AICA definitions in the past and need to update
    now.

    Cheers

    Ruth

THe original AICA-NAB definitions have not been updated- they were available previously on the old aica site.

THey did serve as the basis of the national SAB definitions – there are only v cosmetic changes in fact

ACHS I think has recently completed a review of their inf control indicators; perhaps someone can give us an update as to the outcome

    regards
    John
