    Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

    An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Infection Control Manager to join our Infection Control Unit. The Austin Infection Control Team provides an expert, research-based consultancy service for Infection Control across the Austin Health campuses. The Team have a key role in Infection Control surveillance, disease prevention initiatives (including improved hand hygiene compliance), follow up of disease exposure and outbreaks and the annual staff influenza vaccination program. The Infection Control team also have a pivotal role in providing education and training for staff in infection control.

    The Infection Control Manager coordinates and drives an effective, evidence-based, infection control program for Austin Health and provides leadership and support to the Infection Control Team to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and others.

    To be successful in this role you must be a Division 1 Nurse with at least five years of Infection Control experience and hold a relevant Post-Graduate qualification. You must be able to demonstrate proven leadership and management skills in Infection Control, in particular driving cultural change programs to improve infection control in large, complex organisations. You must have extensive knowledge of infection control, hospital epidemiology and microbiology and be committed to promoting the values and principles which underpin best practice in relation to Infection Control.
