NSWHi all
Looking for some reference for arterial catheter insertion practices. Is it best practice to use maximal barrier precautions (eg sterile gloves and gown on person performing the procedure, full barrier drape)? Or are sterile gown and a local drape sufficient? IS it site specific?
Thanks for any references.
Cheers

NSWHello Michael, how are you?
The IVADs- Infection and Control Policy for NSW includes standard precautions and skin preparation inpages 12-15. PIVCs and peripheral arterial catheters share similar approach.
I hope you find it helpful. Link included below:https://www1.health.nsw.gov.au/pds/ActivePDSDocuments/PD2019_040.pdf#page11
