Members are sought for the ACIPC Education and Research Committee. The inaugural committee will be responsible for establishing and facilitating education and research opportunities by the ACIPC.
The Education and Research Committee will undertake strategic functions that include, but are not limited to:
Developing, promoting, facilitating research and the education and training of ACIPC members and others as appropriate;
Advising and recommending to the College Executive Council educational opportunities to create awareness of and provide leadership relating to infection control issues; and
Advising and recommending to the College Executive Council collaborative opportunities relating to education in infection prevention and control.The Education and Research Committee will initially comprise six members including the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, both of whom must be appointed members of the ACIPC Executive Council. Four vacancies currently exist for membership on this Committee.
Terms of appointment (refer to Foundation Operational Guidelines October 2011 available on the College website).
The members of the Education and Research Committee will be appointed by the ACIPC Executive Council. The role of the Committee is to establish and facilitate the Colleges education and research agenda.
The Committee will commence meeting as soon as constituted.
The performance of the Education and Research Committee will be evaluated annually against established key performance indicators which will occur at the July meeting of the ACIPC Executive Council each year.
The Education and Research Committee will meet monthly via teleconference. The Chairperson may call a special or extraordinary meeting if required.
The Education and Research Committee members will be appointed on a voluntary basis.
Members will be appointed by written application to the Executive Council and will serve a term of two years.Key Selection Criteria
Essential criteria:
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in infection control, public health, epidemiology, or infectious diseases (e.g. Masters Degree, PhD would be an advantage);
Infection Control Professional or equivalent with at least five years of relevant experience;
Skills and experience in infection prevention and control research and/or education;
Financial membership of ACIPC for a minimum of 2 years*;
High level written and oral communication skills;
Previous experience on committees;
Capacity to think and act strategically;
Previous experience in leadership roles.Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of and an ability to work and liaise with committee members across ACIPC;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Willingness to work cohesively with ACIPC Executive Council.The committee is required to undertake the following reporting
In accordance with ACIPC Foundation Operational Guidelines, the Chairperson of the Education and Research Committee must ensure that a formal written report of tasks undertaken is presented at ACIPC Executive Council annually and at other times as required.How to Apply

oA letter outlining why you would be a suitable candidate for appointment of Committee member. The letter should be no more than 500 words and highlight your skills and experience relating to the essential criteria;
oOne photo (headshot), a brief bio and a statement about why you believe you are a suitable applicant.
