Just wondering if anyone is able to share their Antibiotic restriction practices? We’ve been considering the possibility, but aren’t sure of the practicalities of restricting access to antibiotics when there is not always someone “on-call” to grant approval. How do other private hospitals manage? Do you use a retrospective approval process or do you restrict the number of doses that can be given without an ID consult? What other options are available – an electronic approval system is not currently an option. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
