Dear Brains Trust,
Can anyone offer advice in regards to air sampling washrooms in SP departments. We are getting new washers over Christmas which in itself is not an issue but ceiling will be opened for work to be completed, this also impacts on the clean side.
The IPC for management of construction, renovation, repairs and maintenance within health care facilities document recommends air sampling for OT and clean rooms. Has anyone had similar renovations and did you perform air sampling before and after.
Does anyone know of other links that I could access.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Jayne,
Removing a number of ceiling tiles would come under a Type C construction activity according the Australasian Health Facilities Guidelines, or major refurbishment under the WA operational directive. We would always strongly recommend to clients carrying out this category of work in a sterile area that they should carry out air testing afterwards to ensure that everything is within the required limits. Being in WA, the Operational directive we use allows a maximum of 10cfu/m3 in HEPA filtered areas.
