ACIPC is excited to announce that we are holding a lunch and learn webinar on 10 April 2024 at 12.00PM AEST.

This webinar is the first of a series of webinars around IPC in the Aged Care setting and a great opportunity to to be come a part of our community of practice, encouraging collaboration and support in the work environment.

Topic: Looking at your facility through an IPC lens – what’s in an aged care IPC programme.

Presenters: Carrie Spinks & Sarah Gaines Hill

This session will look at aged care facilities from top to bottom, identifying all the areas that require IPC consideration. Labelling these areas provides a foundation for an IPC aged care program. We will look at templates and resources to guide this process. The floor is open for comments, input and sharing ideas and concerns.

Our guest speaker on the day is Sarah Gaines Hill.

Sarah has been an RN for over 35 years. She trained in the UK then moved to USA in 1989. The majority of Sarah’s career has been in the acute care sector in California including 15 years in NICU, and the last 14 years in IPC. Sarah also worked for Blue Cross Care in Victoria for four years. She has facilitated many projects within the acute care sector for reducing healthcare-associated infections including a collaborative with the IHI to reduce patient readmissions from hospital-acquired pneumonia. The results of the project were presented at the national IHI conference in 2013. Sarah also partnered with Sutter Health in California on a research study for reducing healthcare associated pneumonia in the non-ventilated patient which was published in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC).

She is an active member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Prevention and Control (APIC) and has presented posters of other project work at the national conferences.
