    Position Background
    A member is being sought to fill a casual vacancy for the ACIPC Special Interest Group (SIG) Advisory Committee. This committee is in the process of establishing a framework for special interest groups of ACIPC and will act as a conduit between SIGs and the ACIPC Executive Council (EC).
    SIGs will provide ACIPC members with an opportunity for education and support in a specific area of interest or geographical location. A small number of groups are being established in the first 1-2 years of the commencement of ACIPC to ensure a suitable model is chosen and while the other related ACICP Committees become established.
    The SIG Advisory Committee comprises of 6 members, including the Chairperson who is an appointed member of the ACIPC Executive Council. The committee commenced meeting in May 2012 and meets monthly via teleconference.

    Terms of appointment (refer to Foundation Operational Guidelines Oct 2011 available on the College website)
    The members of the SIG Advisory Committee will be appointed by the ACIPC Executive Council. The role of the Committee is to establish and lead the ACIPC Special Interest Groups.

    * The performance of the SIG Advisory Committee will be evaluated annually against established key performance indicators which will occur at the February meeting of the ACIPC EC each year

    * The SIG Advisory Committee will meet monthly via teleconference. The Chairperson may call a special or extraordinary meeting if required

    * The SIG Advisory Committee members will be appointed on a voluntary basis

    * Members will be appointed by written application to the Executive Council and will serve a term of two (2) years*
    *NB: As this position is to fill a casual vacancy the term of appointment will be 15 months

    Key Selection Criteria
    Essential Criteria:

    * Skills and experience in infection control and prevention

    * Financial membership of ACIPC for a minimum of 2 years#

    * High level communication skills

    * Previous experience on Committees

    * Capacity to think and act strategically

    * Previous experience in leadership roles
    #2 years membership of the Association formerly known as AICA

    Desirable

    * Tertiary qualifications in infection control, public health, epidemiology, or infectious diseases (e.g. Master’s Degree, PhD) would be an advantage.

    * Infection Control professional with at least five years of relevant experience.

    Knowledge & Skills

    * Understanding of and an ability to work and liaise with committee members and other committees of ACIPC
    * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    * Willingness to work cohesively with ACIPC EC

    Reporting
    In accordance with ACIPC policy, the Chairperson of the SIG Advisory Committee must ensure that a thorough written report of tasks undertaken is presented at ACIPC Executive Council at least twice a year but more often as required. The report must include details about the following:

    * Decisions which may have a financial impact for the College
    * Established SIGs
    * Activities of the SIGs
    * Requests for the establishment of new SIGs

    * A current CV
    * A letter that describes how you would be a suitable candidate for appointment that includes a response to the selection criteria of no more than 500 words
    * One photo (headshot), a brief bio and a statement about why you believe you are a suitable applicant. By submitting this information with your application you have given your permission for the use of this material for promotion of the ACIPC and the HCI journal.
