Please feel free to pass this information onto colleagues or networks within aged care who may not be ACIPC members.
The Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) are offering workshops for the aged care sector in various locations throughout 2019, beginning with Brisbane on 28 and 29 March. This two day workshop offers a comprehensive program, it is made up of two one day workshops. Participants can choose to attend both days or depending on their role and learning needs register for day one or day two. A link to register and pricing information can be found here.
Workshop one “Principles of infection prevention and control” is for everyone working in an aged care home setting from those working with residents to members of the workforce handling food or linen to those who need to improve their infection prevention knowledge. This workshop covers topics and information about how infections are spread, precautions to minimise the risk of infection (such as how to practice hand washing and hand hygiene, and when to wear gloves or other protective clothing), safe infection prevention work practices (such as safe handling of linen and food service), and vaccinations for staff and residents. Practical activities promote application of learning to practice. Participants may register for the entire two-day program or choose to attend Day One only if they do not need the extended information provided on Day Two.
Workshop two “Leading and coordinating and infection prevention and control program” builds on day one and is for those requiring a more detailed knowledge of infection prevention and control strategies, or who hold an infection prevention and control portfolio or accountability for managing infection prevention control issues or staff. Topics to be covered include organisms of significance, outbreak management, surveillance, antibiotic stewardship and governance and policy.
If you have any questions about the aged care workshops or professional development program, please email officemanager@acipc.org.au , and we will be happy to assist.
